DEVOTIONAL
Guys! The bible is full of such good news! People often try to make it about a God who’s angry with us and has tons of rules. But, as we learned last week, when you boil everything down, the Bible and living for Jesus is all about loving God and loving people. When you are committed to loving God and loving people, a life of integrity isn’t complicated.
This week we’re talking about how awesome God is. It simply isn’t true that he’s a mean old guy in the sky, waiting and watching for us to mess up so he can punish us. That’s not who He is. He is THE living God. He is everlasting. Meaning that He was always there, and He’s with us now and will be forever.
In short...He’s not going anywhere.
Time hasn’t taken its toll on God, and it never will. The scripture also tells us that He is the creator of all the earth. That includes us! We are His big idea, and He loves us like crazy! The good news doesn’t stop there, though. He is so incredible that he never gets tired or worn out.
Do you know what that means? Regardless of your circumstances, he’s just as loving and just as strong to carry you through.
Sometimes we think God showed up for us the last time we had an issue, which means that this time, his patience has run out. Perhaps his love and his strength are wearing thin. But that’s impossible. He’s a big God, and his love and power never run out. We can be confident in the fact that no matter what, He doesn’t change. He will always be there for us.
It seems too good to be true, doesn’t it? Even the most incredible superheroes have some type of kryptonite that will slow them down or shut them down, but not our God. That’s the best news you’ll hear all week. Let’s be honest, that’s the best news you’ll ever hear! THE one and only everlasting God, the creator of the earth, who also happens never to get tired or weak, and whose wisdom is more profound than we could ever understand, is in your corner and loves you. God is so good! We are so blessed! When we get a full realization of this scripture, it changes the way we live. It has to.
We are not alone
That’s a truth we need to remember when we’re struggling. Knowing this will lift our heads when things get tough.
This week as you remember your fighting words, don’t forget to thank him for how amazing he is and then go out and live your life knowing that He loves you more than you could ever fathom.
Some Stuff To Think About
Question 1: Have you ever stopped to think about how amazing God is?
Question 2: Does knowing that God is the everlasting God, the creator of everything, that he never tires out or gets weak and knows everything, help you trust him with your life?
Question 3: What are some ways to live your life differently when you realize how incredible God is?
Challenge: This week, take the opportunity to ask God some of your biggest questions. God is all-knowing. He wants to share his wisdom with you. Spend some time asking him a question and asking him to reveal the answer to you or direct you to the answer. Our relationship with God goes two ways, and he loves to speak to your heart and direct your steps.
PRAYER
(Here’s a prayer to pray together or on your own as you memorize your “Fighting Words” this week.)
Dear Heavenly Father,
We are overwhelmed at how amazing you are. Thank you for reminding us through this scripture that we serve an all-powerful God who is everlasting, strong and full of wisdom. Lord, help us to live in light of your strength. Help us to live wisely. We ask you to be with us in every storm that we face. God, you are more than enough for us. Teach us to live a life of victory because of who you are. Bless us this week in ways we can’t even imagine. Teach us to be strong and loving like you. Speak to our hearts.
Thank you for who you are, God. We love you so.
Amen!
